Meet Dr. Roque

Dr. Cheri Roque was born and raised in Arizona. She graduated from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. After high school, Dr. Cheri went to American University in Washington DC where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a concentration in Spanish. During college, Dr. Cheri developed her interest in the biological and human sciences and decided she wanted to pursue a career in the health care field. After college, Dr. Cheri furthered her knowledge in the healthcare sciences at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development where she received a Post-Baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award. While Dr. Cheri was studying at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at the National Institutes of Health, she developed her interest further in pursuing a career in dentistry. After completing research at the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Cheri went to Harvard School of Dental Medicine where she earned her DMD degree in dentistry. While she was in dental school, she developed her passion for children’s and adolescent dentistry. During dental school, Dr. Cheri participated in many community service programs dedicated to supporting children’s education and dental health, and she knew pediatric dentistry was the career path for her. After earning her dental degree at Harvard, Dr. Cheri went to the University of Connecticut where she completed a two-year residency-training program in Pediatric Dentistry. At the University of Connecticut, Dr. Cheri studied under the direction of Dr. Gregory P. Mathieu, a now retired dentist of Hilgers Pediatric Dentistry. After completing her residency in Pediatric Dentistry Dr. Cheri and her husband moved to Arizona to be closer to family and to allow her husband to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine at Maricopa Integrated Health System. Dr. Cheri worked at Hilgers Pediatric Dentistry at that time and was very sad to leave when she and her husband and new daughter moved to Nashville, Tennessee for a short time to pursue her husband’s career opportunity. Since then, Dr. Cheri and her husband have welcomed a second daughter into this world and are very grateful to call Arizona home again. Dr. Cheri couldn’t be happier to be back working with Dr. Kelly and our team here at Hilgers Pediatric Dentistry. She and her husband, Pedro, an Emergency Medicine Physician, are very excited to be in the valley where they share their lives with close family and friends. She is very excited to be back part of our team and is looking forward to taking an active role in the community promoting children’s dental health and wellness.
