Meet Dr. Roberta
Goodyear Pedodontist Dr. Roberta
I spent my life in the dental chair as a child, or so it felt that way to me. In fact, I was 12 when I decided I wanted to become a dentist and help other people. I remember the kindness of my pediatric dentist and how much he did for me. I knew I wanted to do that for others one day. I became a dentist in 2012, but it wasn’t until a few years later that I realized my true passion was pediatric dentistry. I knew I wanted to help the most vulnerable population overcome their fears and anxiety of being at the dentist, plus I wanted to be able to provide all the care my little patients needed myself instead of referring to others.
I grew up in South Dakota and attended undergrad at the University of South Dakota where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. I received my Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree (DMD) from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ASDOH) in 2012 along with my Master of Public Health degree in 2011.
Upon completion of dental school, I worked as a general dentist in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at a community health clinic for three years. It was at this clinic, where I fell in love with treating children and wanted to pursue a specialty in Pediatric Dentistry. I completed pediatric residency in 2017 at The Ohio State University/Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH earning a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and a Master of Science degree. As part of my education and master’s degree, I completed a research project on children’s ability to brush their own teeth effectively based on their cognitive and motor skills. I presented my research at the American Academy of Dental Research and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside of the dental office, I am a wife and mother. I enjoy hiking, Oregano’s big beefstro salad, going to musicals and plays with my husband, swimming with my son and spending time in the sunshine with my family and friends.
